Milan is the international capital of fashion and design and hosts one of the most lively cultural scenes in Europe thanks to its numerous museums, theaters and art galleries. It is the city of events, every night there is something to do or to attend and moving around is easy thanks to an efficient network of public transportation, car sharing and bike sharing.
Rome is the meeting of ancient and modern, between Ancient Roman monuments and contemporary architectural works (the Maxxi museum by Zaha Hadid, the auditorium of Renzo Piano, the Ara pacis Museum), as well as Baroque masterpieces. Rome is the meeting between the sacred and the secular, between hugely important places of worship (the Vatican and churches, the Jewish ghetto and the Synagogue; the Mosque) and the nightlife offered by places in the centre.
Turin, with its 18 km of arcades, is one of the most fascinating and mysterious cities in Italy. Its magic exists in the fusion of art, history and avant-garde. During your Italian course in Italy your goal will be to learn true Italian. It will be a natural and quickly moving learning experience because during the course, you will actually live in Italy.
You will be immersed in the culture while listening to Italian , reading and speaking only Italian for the entire day. In turn, you will make rapid progress, both inside and outside the classroom .
A language is not a mere assemblage of words and grammar. It is one of the most important means of communication used by a nation and/or a country. For this reason that you can never fully learn a language from a book.
For this, our Partner School Scuola Leonardo da Vinci stresses the importance of communication so that you can talk and learn through experience. As you will experience, both during the course and beyond. During the lessons you will participate fully in Italian with your professors and classmates. This participation represents the best method of approach to quickly strengthen your abilities to practice the language and at the same time to understand the emotions related to certain words. You will be immersed in the rich Italian culture, festivals, coffee, everyday life, etc. During the weekends, you can visit the countryside, see the beaches and enjoy a warm welcome from the Italians!
Learning Italian in these fun ways makes studying no longer boring!
The “Absolute Beginners”, i.e. those who have never studied the Italian language before, are welcomed at our partner school.
On the first day of school students enter the main office and ask questions in their mother tongue languages. By the time they leave at the end of the course, the students are waving and saying their goodbyes in Italian….. it is not a dream!
Our partner school method:
The school follows the communicative approach: from the first day of class and in all levels, in the classroom the only language spoken is Italian.
Teachers place special emphasis on spoken language and communication, however they also work on the four basic skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) .
The lessons are stimulating, interactive and fun. They are organized in a relaxed environment in which learning feels like a natural process.
The school’s textbook is accompanied by original and credible materials such as newspapers, magazines, and videos, which facilitate the knowledge of authenticity and of the Italian culture in their many facets .
Teachers are experienced in teaching Italian to foreign students. They are available to guide, motivate and help students in their learning process.
Absolute beginner? Which course is best?
If you are an absolute beginner, there are several possibilities for you. The choice depends on the intensity of the course that you wish to attend.
A tailor-made program for students who want a course designed to meet their professional or personal needs and at their preferred times.
This Italian Language Course is available at any time of the year and in all of our locations. Individual Italian language lessons are tailored to the individual student’s needs and interests: in private Italian language courses the teacher’s attention is focused only on the student and his/her learning requirements. The Individual Italian language course allows the student to freely decide on the number and time of the lessons, with a wide range of availability. For the best results however, we do suggest a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 8 lessons per day.
This private course is ideal for those who need to learn Italian for work or to learn a specific vocabulary relating to a profession, such as business Italian, Italian in the banking sector, Italian for law, medicine or for the fashion world or simply to deepen one’s own personal interests in subjects such as art, cinema, literature or Italian history. The One-to-one Italian language lessons are perfect to combine with the numerous group activities organized by the school, so as to complement the study and to provide periods of socialising, relaxation and interaction in the Italian language.
Individual lessons can also include lunch with your teacher, offering you the possibility to continue learning the Italian language in an everyday life situation.
The intensive Italian language course is our standard course, and consists of 4 Italian lessons a day, totaling 20 lessons a week.
The lessons are held from Monday to Friday in groups of no more than 14 students, led by qualified teachers, who are passionate about their work.
The lessons begin every Monday for students that already have some knowledge of the Italian language, and every two weeks for absolute beginners.
Lessons are principally based on spoken communication, but also deal with the more formal aspects of the language (lexis/vocabulary and grammar). Lots of time is dedicated to activities that encourage dialogue and discussion about various topics, from art and literature, to modern city culture. Text books are provided by the school and are included in the price of the course. The teachers use not only these text books, but also other support materials (newspaper articles, songs, films and other authentic material from everyday life) to give students the opportunity to engage with different forms of contemporary communication and to improve their communication abilities. Our golden rule is: the teacher is the director, but the group of students are the real protagonists of the lessons.
You can attend a course, even for only one week, in all locations. You can choose between the following options:
Expertise and fantastic quality of teaching, all in the space of one week.
Recommended for those students who do not have a lot of time available, who want to refresh their knowledge of Italian or, lay foundations for learning the language in the future.
The one week Italian Language courses are organized in the same way as our medium and long-length courses, with lessons that start every Monday for students that already have some knowledge of the Italian language, and every two weeks for those that are absolute beginners. Classes with a maximum number of 14 students allow you to fully take advantage of your stay in Italy and your free time, thanks to all of the activities organized by our partner Language School staff, which range from guided visits, to evenings spent together, enjoying life and each other’s company.
RAINBOW PROJECT AGENCY by The Leonardo da Vinci school offers Italian courses split into 6 ability levels, from beginner (A1) to advanced (C2), according to an assessment system validated by the European Council. Communication is our method of teaching – from the first day you speak Italian!
The super-intensive Italian Language course is our intensive course of 4 Italian lessons a day, together with 2 extra group lessons a day, giving a total of 30 Italian lessons a week.
The lessons are held Monday to Friday in groups made up of no more than 14 students. The lessons are led by different teachers, who deal with both the formal and more communicative aspects of the language.
The lessons start each Monday for students that already have some knowledge of the Italian language and each two weeks for students that are absolute beginners. The super-intensive Italian Language course, due to its 2 extra hours of lessons, helps to quickly develop the practical, communication abilities of the students, dedicating special attention to the communicative aspects of the language.
If your aim is:
to speak in a more fluent and precise way, to widen your vocabulary, to feel more confident in your communication with others and to improve your understanding skills, and to achieve all of this in a short time, this is the ideal course for you. Classes are composed of people from all over the world and from different age groups. The 6 daily lessons still leave more than enough time to participate in the many extracurricular activities organized by the school.
For students that want to learn quickly and intensively, benefitting from the intimate environment of a small group – the intensive Italian language course in small groups is tailored to meet your individual needs.
As part of a group of only 5 people, you attend 6 daily Italian lessons. The intensive Italian Language course in small groups is held only in Florence and Rome.
Learning a foreign language well means not just attending any course, but choosing which course is right for you, your own needs and your own personality.
In a more intimate environment, where there is the confidence and friendly atmosphere created by a small group, it is often easier to get involved in the various communicative activities. These aspects often become key, allowing you to achieve significant improvements.
Working in a small group allows the teacher to dedicate more time to the individual needs of each student, solving their doubts, filling in their grammatical gaps and following their daily progress. The intensive Italian language course in small groups consists of 6 Italian classes a day, with a total of 30 lessons per week.
The lessons start each Monday for students that have some knowledge of the Italian language and every two weeks for absolute beginners
The plus 5 or plus 10 Italian Language courses allow the student to learn in two different ways: on one hand there’s studying in group, where you can benefit from the communicative dynamics, learning together with others, in a group of a maximum of 14 students. On the other hand, you can also follow a personalized and intensive study program taking advantage of the expertise and attention offered by a private lesson.
For those who have a high level of knowledge of the Italian language, private lessons are ideal to learn in depth about the culture of Italy, its history and the lifestyles of the Italian people.
If, on the other hand, you are preparing to do an Italian language certificate exam, a university test, or an important work interview; with the reinforcement and in-depth learning offered by private lessons, you will certainly succeed and reach your goals.
Our partner school staff are always available to help to organize extracurricular activities during your stay: guided museum visits, monument and church visits, tastings, lessons on various Italian topics (e.g. cinema, literature, opera, or food) and visits around the city.
When choosing families, we do not look for luxurious accommodation, but rather Italian families that happily welcome foreign students. In addition, the word ‘family’ should not just be understood according to its traditional definition: family can also mean a couple without children or a single father or mother who simply enjoy the company.
Meals
you can choose between breakfast or half-board (breakfast and dinner). You will eat with the family, but remember that the habits and routines of Italians may be different to your own. Generally, breakfast is coffee or tea with bread, butter or marmalade. Dinner is a full meal that is served around 20.00.
Rules of behaviour if living with a family
Living with a family gives you the unique opportunity to integrate yourself in Italian culture and the way of life, but there are a few necessary compromises to be made between you and the family that host you. There are some rules that you must follow: keep your room tidy; do not wake up the family when you come home after midnight; do not use the personal items of the family without permission; do not use the kitchen for your own purposes; the use of the washing machine is not included, so you cannot use it without permission of the owner. You are permitted to use the common rooms.
Living in an apartment with Italian or foreign students, or with the landlord, requires maturity but also allows you to have a lot of independence. You will share the bathroom and the kitchen with other students, and you can cook for yourself.
Facilities
you will share an apartment or a floor of a house with other students at the Leonardo da Vinci School, Italian students or with the landlord. All students share the kitchen and the bathroom with others. Apartments are furnished and the kitchen is provided with all necessary utensils (dishes, plates, pots etc). You can cook and eat by yourself or with the other students. Electricity, gas, water, bills and taxes are included in the rent. Bed-linens are provided and changed every two weeks or, in alternative, upon arrival each student will be given a set of bedlinens, two sets if they stay for a longer period. In this case students will wash bed-linens themselves. You must bring your own towels. We suggest organizing something to eat for your first dinner. The apartment does not have a telephone. The apartment will be cleaned before your arrival. During your stay you will be responsible for cleaning your own room as well as the common rooms (kitchen and bathroom).
Rules of behavior in shared apartments
We ask you to respect the following rules: Keep the common rooms clean and tidy, clean plates after using them; take out the rubbish each day and put it in the appropriate bins; do not wake up flatmates when you come home after midnight; do not have parties (parties are absolutely forbidden, especially with people that do not live in the apartment. This is for health and safety reasons but also to ensure peace and quiet for neighbours and for students that do not participate); do not use a bed or room in the apartment that is unoccupied; do not invite a ‘friend’ that is not well-known to the apartment; inform the secretary of the school of any possible damage or technical breakdowns; leave the apartment in a clean state when you depart.

The teaching method is influenced by modern didactics and is designed according to the ‘Concept of Foreign Languages’ of the European Council and the guidelines of the ”Accademia Italiana di Lingua (AIL) “.Lessons are run by mother tongue teachers who are expert in Italian language teaching to foreign students. The teaching staff can rely on academic support and the continuous update under the monitoring of the study director and the collaboration of the department for teaching. The high-quality teaching offered by the school is more and more strengthened by teachers’ meetings and observations in class.
On the first day of the Italian Language course, your knowledge of Italian will be determined by an entry test and an interview.
