English Language Courses in Malta

GENERAL ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSE OPTIONS

On the General English Langauge Course, you attend a core of 20 lessons per week, which will give you a practical understanding of the English language and take you all the way to fluency. Your confidence will improve as we train you in all four communication skills: speaking, listening, reading and writing. You can also choose to extend and intensify your 20 lessons per week with these add-ons.

ONE-TO-ONE SESSIONS

Add One-to-One sessions to the General English Language course and maximise your progress through private lessons. With individual attention, these sessions are 100% focused on your requirements and designed by your teachers to match your needs.

INTENSIVE ENGLISH

This Intensive English Langauge course is made up of 30 lessons (22.5 hours) per week including the General English classes. It also allows you to personalise your course by taking 10 lessons per week across a wide selection of Special Focus options.

SEMI-INTENSIVE ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSE

This additional option is only available to students studying in the USA or Canada. You get 24 lessons (18 hours) per week of General English including four lessons per week in your choice of Special Focus study.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE COURSE FOR WORK

This Special Focus Programme, available at all schools, combines 20 lessons of General English with 10 lessons focused on Business English. Topics cover negotiating, management, marketing, project management, giving presentations and interview skills.

Mini Group

More individual attention

In a class of just six students you will benefit from more individual contact with your teacher. Getting even more guidance, attention and feedback are all specific advantages of a Mini Group course.

Flexible and personal

Fewer class members allow lessons to take a natural flow. As you feel an increased sense of participation and motivation, your course will adapt to cover the language areas and skills that you need to focus on.

Gain fluency quickly

The flexibility of our teachers plus a small class size means you will progress faster. Lots of engagement means you will will improve your response time, which is essential for fluency.

Gain confidence

In a smaller group you will enjoy stronger relationships within your class. Your confidence will grow as you have more opportunities to interact with your classmates and teacher.

Visa Information

Whether you need a visa to learn English in Malta depends on your nationality and the length of your stay.

Check out this list of nationalities which need a visa to enter Malta for 90 days or less and those nationalities which do not need a visa to enter Malta for 90 days or less.

If you require a visa in order to enter Malta, then you must apply for one of the following:

a) a long term/national visa (Schengen Type D) from Malta’s diplomatic missions or consular posts which will cover the full duration of your stay. Students on a type D visa cannot extend their stay once in Malta.

Or:

b) a short-stay visa (Schengen Type C) when applying at representations, where Malta has no consular post. Students on a type C Visa staying for a period longer than the maximum 90 days must then apply for a Temporary Residence Permit once in Malta in order to continue their studies.

All embassies will ask you to provide some documents when applying for a visa. Below is a list of what is generally asked for but please note that this may vary from embassy to embassy:

  • Passport
  • Copy of the main page of the passport
  • One passport-size photograph
  • Application form
  • Invitation letter in original (no email, no fax) mentioning personal and passport details of the applicant/s, duration of the stay, duration of the course, cost and whether the fee of the course has been paid or not
  • Confirmation of payment of the course
  • Confirmation of the place where the applicant will stay (hotel, family, friends…)
  • Flight reservation from your country to Malta
  • Declaration from the school
  • Medical insurance
  • Financial guaranty (minimum 28 Euro per day of stay)
  • Certificate of personal address in your country
  • Family information
  • Visa fee: 82USD up to 90 days, 102 USD more than 90 days (approximate)

All documents required from EC will be sent to you only when we have received full payment.

What will happen if the visa is refused?

If the visa is then refused and you let us know in writing at least one week before your arrival date, we will refund the full sum of money (excluding any bank charges).

If the visa is refused and you inform us less than 1 week before your arrival date, a cancellation fee of 1 week accommodation and tuition will apply. Since some embassies require the original documents (not faxed or emailed) we will courier (DHL) the original documents to you. The price for this is of 88 euros – this fee should be included in the original payment of course and accommodation booked.
